Tim Fox ABSTRACT ABSTRACT Goverment funding for physics research has become tighter and competition for existing funds greater. Given this, most control room designers may not be provided an opportunity to design a control room from scratch, but may have "inherited" a control room that had been used to support a wide range of various activities, including accelerator control. This talk will address working within existing parameters to create a environment that can support accelerator operations from the commissioning stages to delivering beam for Physics 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Design considerations such as accelerator/subsystem/facility commissioning, ergonomics, lighting, safety, communications, computers and software control will also be included. Other issues such as access control, emergency response, non-Personnel Safety key control, and other activity support will also be discussed.
