Training at the SSRL WAO'98 Abstract The SSRL operations group is responsible for operating the 3GeV storage ring (SPEAR) and it's injector. The injector consists of a 120MeV linac and a 2.3GeV booster. SPEAR has been providing stable beam for synchrotron light experiments to 10 beam lines with a consistent uptime greater than 95%. SSRL accelerator operators join the group as trainees and it takes them one year on the average to become a qualified operator. Most of the training is done on the job and is provided by the accelerator engineers and experienced operators following documented guidelines and checklists. Developments and updates to existing documents are in progress. The final qualification is done by the Accelerator Operations Manager. This poster provides an overview of the facility, statistics and the training program at SSRL: General Laboratory Safety; Operations Safety; Evaluation Guides; Certification and Qualification Checklists.
