The Advanced Light Source at the University of California's Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, produces the world's brightest ultraviolet and soft X-ray light. Commissioned in 1992, the ALS low- emittance storage ring uses electrons, from 1 to 1.9 GeV. It is a National User Facility funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. Bob Miller, the Operations Group Leader for ALS will discuss personnel and accelerator scheduling issues in his group.
