APS Presenter and Contact: Steve Jones (sjones@aps.anl.gov) How we do business at the Advanced Photon Source Steve Jones Operations Group Accelerator Systems Division Advanced Photon Source Argonne National Laboratory 9700 South Cass Avenue Argonne, IL 60439 WAO'98 Abstract The Advanced Photon Source is a third generation X-ray source made up of four accelerators: a linac, an accumulation ring (PAR), a booster synchrotron and the Storage Ring. A group of 22 people operate this facility, occupying the Main Control Room around the clock. Among the items discussed will be the make up of the Operations Group, how the group conducts its business, crew scheduling, operational scheduling and the use of the APS intranet in operations.
