WAO'98 Abstract Personnel and Accelerator Scheduling at HIMAC Eiichi Takada, HIMAC - NIRS, Japan HIMAC (Heavy Ion Medical Accelerator in Chiba, Japan), delivers 400 MeV/u carbon beam for cancer therapy. The accelerator was commissioned in 1993-1994. Operators take shifts, typically a DAY-NIGHT-OFF in a 3-day sequence, which comes 3-4 times a month. The Day and Night Shifts are 12 hours. They also work for maintenance and R&D support for the rest of working days. Dr. Takada will describe the HIMAC accelerator and discuss personnel and accelerator scheduling at HIMAC.
