16 January 1998 Dear Colleague, Re: Poster Submissions for the Workshop on Accelerator Operations - WAO98 If you have received this letter, you may already know that the Tri-University Meson Facility (TRIUMF) is hosting WAO'98 from 18-22 May 1998. TRIUMF is Canada's premier physics research facility and is located in scenic Vancouver, British Columbia. WAO'98 brings together professionals involved in the day-to-day operation of accelerators. We will exchange information on staffing, training, maintenance, documentation, safety and other related areas. Plans for the workshop are well underway and the program is starting to firm up. The workshop schedule is posted on our web site (http://www.triumf.ca/wao98). Since people from many different parts of the world have already registered, we expect to see information on diverse operational methods. We would like to get as many of the participating labs as possible to submit poster presentations showing how their operations group handles on of the following four functions: 1) Machine Maintenance 2) Staff Training 3) Control Room Layout and Design 4) How We Do Business We believe these poster presentations will greatly enhance the quantity and quality of the information exchange that will occur during the workshop. If you are planning to attend the workshop, we ask you to review the information and templates on the following pages and to contact the appropriate session chairperson for further information on submitting a WAO'98 poster. Poster template specifications and files are available on our web site. You may need to install Adobe's Acrobat Reader plug-in program (see http://www.adobe.com/) to view and print these files. If you are a manger or supervisor in the operations group of an accelerator and have not yet registered for WAO'98, you should avoid disappointment by registering as quickly as possible. Sincerely, The WAO'98 Programme Committee
